The Biocarbon Partners is recruiting a Biodiversity Monitoring Team Member for Gaza.
Location: Field Based (between Gaza, Manica, Sofala and Inhambane provinces)

We work with Community and Government partners to help improve the conservation and management of globally significant wildlife habitats.
BCP is recruiting for BIODIVERSITY MONITORING TEAM MEMBER. The primary responsibility of the Biodiversity Monitoring Team Member is to ensure the collection of biodiversity data in line with BCP’s Biodiversity Monitoring Plan. ideal candidate would demonstrate a real interest in nature conservation. As the position mainly consists of field work, the candidate must be physically fit, have a wide range of field based skills, not be afraid of encountering wild animals and be comfortable with basic living and working conditions.
Responsibility:
- Provide support in planning field missions;
- Ensure that field equipment and materials are well maintained and remain in good working condition;
- Work with the rest of the biodiversity team to implement transect surveys;
- Deploy camera trap arrays, visit them at fixed intervals, and extract them at the end of the survey;
- Collect field data on wildlife, maintaining and submitting clear records of all data collected;
- Carry out species specific surveys for our project’s trigger species in line with monitoring plans;
- Assist in debriefings after each survey;
- Assist in refresher trainings for field assistants and scouts;
- Participate in biodiversity related trainings and community engagement activities as needed;
- Serve as a driver for biodiversity activities.
Qualifications:
- Educational background related to biodiversity or courses in biodiversity preferred;
- A good command of English, spoken and written ,as well as local languages;
- Demonstrated Team leadership;
- A valid Driver’s license;
- Willingness in working and living in basic field conditions for long periods, including camping in wild places;
- Willingness to travel frequently between sites.
Added advantage for applicants who can demonstrate the following:
- First aid training;
- Experienced motorbike driver;
- Good knowledge of the bush (animal identification and tracking, animal behavior, botany).
