Karingani Game Reserve is recruiting one (1) Camp Manager for Massingir.
Job Title: Mbilu Camp Manager
Location: Karingani Game Reserve (About 70 KM from the village of Massingir District)
Job Overview:
The Mbilu Camp Manager at Karingani Game Reserve plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of Mbilu Camp, maintaining exceptional service standards for both staff and institutional guests. This role involves overseeing housekeeping, managing bookings, maintaining landscaping, coordinating camp upkeep, ensuring the well-being of institutional guests, overseeing cleanliness of the office complex, managing all dedicated staff facilities, and implementing waste management protocols in coordination with the sustainability team. The Camp Manager will act as the primary point of contact for accommodation and staff welfare at Mbilu, requiring close coordination with departments such as security, logistics, HR, and health to ensure safety and a seamless experience for all residents and visitors. Collaboration with conservation, health, sustainability, and security teams will be essential to establish comprehensive induction protocols for all camp arrivals. The Camp manager will report to Operations Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Housekeeping Oversight:
- Supervise and maintain high standards of cleanliness and maintenance in all rooms and public areas of Mbilu Camp;
- Implement and uphold housekeeping schedules and standards.
- Bookings Management:
- Manage reservations and bookings for rooms at Mbilu Camp, ensuring accuracy and timely communication with guests and internal stakeholders.
- Landscaping and Facilities Maintenance:
- Coordinate landscaping efforts to enhance the aesthetic appeal and functionality of the camp;
- Monitor and ensure all facilities and equipment in Mbilu Camp are well-maintained and operational;
- Implement waste management protocols and procedures and champion staff education on best practices in waste management.
- Staff Facilities Management:
- Oversee management of the staff canteen, laundry facilities, and other dedicated amenities within the camp;
- Ensure cleanliness and functionality of all staff facilities.
- Office and Logistics Support:

- Maintain tidiness and functionality of Mbilu offices;
- Assist in logistics arrangements for the Mbilu Camp restaurant and other guest services as required.
6. Maintenance Oversight:

- Proactively identify and report maintenance needs in room and residences; offices and camp facilities;
- Collaborate with the Head of Operations to coordinate timely repairs and maintenance tasks.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in hospitality management, preferably in a remote or wilderness setting;
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a diverse team;
- Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices is desirable;
- Fluent in Portuguese and English; proficiency in other languages spoken in the region is advantageous.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred;
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a managerial role within the hospitality industry, ideally in a game reserve or similar environment.
