Action Against Hunger is a recognized humanitarian association as public utility and founded in 1979, the organization operates in 47 countries in the fields of nutrition, health, food safety and livelihood, water, hygiene and sanitation and mental health and care practices.
- Contract duration: 6 Months
- Number of positions: 2 Positions
- Receiving base: One Position to Mueda, The second Position to Macomia
- Availability: Imediate
- Special Conditions: Position available for all Mozambique
- Remuneration: 172,652.00 (Gross monthly Income) and 13th Month paid in December (prorata depending on the starting date)
- Benefits: Health insurance including partner and children (providing certificates); 2 days per month paid leaves
OBJECTIVE
Under the supervision and management of the Area Coordinator, provide leadership at Field Level to ensure the effective and timely implementation by overseeing the program and support department at the Sub-Base. Work closely with the programs, technical, and support teams at Area Level to ensure coordination and successful delivery of activities.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES (NOT COMPLETE)
Mission 1 : Implement the programs in his/her area
The Field Manager provides overall leadership at field level. Tasks may include (not exhaustive):
- The quality of programs’ implementation;
- The compliance of his/her programs with ACF standards and the implementation of any technical recommendation in a timely manner;
- The report of his/her activity in a timely manner;
- The capitalization of program’s achievements;
- The implementation and monitoring of new techniques;
- Ensuring that the necessary support resources (HR, Logistics, Finance) are efficiently enabling the implementation of the programs.
Mission 2: Security and Safety Management
The Field Manager participates in the definition of the overall field-level security plans/measures and ensure proper security management, in collaboration with the security team and the Area Coordinator. Activities may include (not exhaustive):
- Continuous and daily context monitoring and follow-up;
- Participation in context security assessment and support to define security protocols as required;
- Showing proactivity in suggestion of update of security protocols as necessary accordingly to the context evolution;
- Ensuring the correct application and respect of security measures by the field team, visitors and relevant partners;
- Under the delegation of the Area Coordinator, management of incidents.
Mission 3 : Team Management
- The Field Manager is responsible for:
- The day-to-day management of his/her team (guidance, follow-up, action plan motivation…);
- Evaluating the performance of the team;
- Developing the skills of his/her team members (capacity-building plan).
Mission 4: Internal and External Coordination
The Field Manager ensures internal and external coordination with relevant stakeholders and partners to facilitate the implementation of ACF’s activities and programs. Activities may include (not exhaustive):
- Communicating regularly with the Area Coordination team and request support as necessary;
- Ensuring that all relevant reporting documents are provided to the Area Coordinator;
- Participating at different forums at field level to ensure representation and coordination of ACF with others stakeholders (authorities, sub-cluster if any, working group, ad hoc meeting with operational partners, INGO and Local NGO…);
- If required, participating or lead in the identification of potential local partners and/or coordinate programme set up and implementation with them.
This list of responsibilities is not exhaustive. Some others responsibilities / tasks can be added, according to the activities and after validation by the Superiors.
Diploma / Level of study:
- Technical university degree (bachelor/masters) or equivalent;
- Minimum of 2 years Experience in the NGO sector ;
- Minimum 2 years Experience in Project Management or Manager position;
- Basic knowledge in Security Management (experience is a plus);
- Basic knowledge in HR, log. Admin is a plus.
Required competencies:
- Proficiency in Portuguese and English (both oral and written). Local languages (Cabo Delgado) is a plus;
- Management and leadership skills;
- Communication and negotiation skills;
- Proactivity and autonomy.
